I learned the folk art of Nantucket basket weaving when I was a child growing up on Cape Cod, making my first basket in 1975. I create handmade traditional Nantucket baskets and Nantucket basket woven wearables, wet woven using materials that are primarily wood, sea grass, reed and cane but also may include leather, metal and composite. Over the years, my work has been recognized with several awards, including the Joseph Gualtieri Prize at the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival in 2021, as well as recognition at the Festival of the Arts in Chatham, MA and the Corn Hill Art Festival 2024 in the Mixed Media category. These accolades affirm the dedication I put into every piece I make and the joy I find in sharing my craft with others.
